Collection: Alvaro Jimenez

Alvaro Jimenez is a prolific septuagenarian visual artist. He is self-taught and is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education at the Don Honorio Ventura School of Arts and Trades, in Bacolor Pampanga. He specializes in painting Philippine scenery in watercolor. With his skill, Jimenez produces works of art that depict and aim to preserve, the culture of 19th century Philippines. Jimenez is known for producing very colorful Letras y Figuras artworks. He paints each letter with figures that all contribute to a deeper cultural meaning of the word that is being spelled out. He also incorporates banana stalks and fibers as an alternative ground and surface to his works; its usage results into paintings that evoke alocalyet authentic stylistic rendition.
