Collection: Rodin Fernandez

Honrado E. Fernandez Jr has many nicknames, he goes by “Rodin”, “Dan”, “Rado” or “Koys” depending on who he is with. He was born in Tokyo in 1974 and spent his early life living and studying in Japan. His family moved back to the Philippines in 1988 and he continued his Secondary Education in Jose Abad Santos Memorial School before taking up Architecture in the University of the Philippines.  He became an Architect in 1999 and worked for various Architectural Firms where he sharpened his skill and learned from other Architects before joining his father’s Architectural Firm.  After his father’s death in 2005, he took over the Architectural Design Firm and together with his younger brother Nicolo, they expanded their practice to include Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao.

He was exposed to art at a young age because his father who is both an Architect & Artist didn’t likegoing to Malls or taking his sons to Amusement Parks. Instead, he would bring his sons to Galleries, Museums, and Exhibits. This is where Rado developed his interest in abstract drawings and sculptures. As an Architect, Builder, and Businessman, Rado was never dependent on his art financially. This allowed him not to be affected by the economy of art or be affected by market demands. This enabled him to explore and develop his style and take the paths less travelled. He knows that not everyone will
understand or like his work, but for the few who do, they won’t be able to get enough of it.
